PROJECT Interior Renovation

'A House in a Farm' encapsulates an Interior project of converting an old Farm Office building, that was integrated into a house formation, to a one family Comfortable Living Space. The conversion process directly impacted the design process as one of the key factors was to preserve and re-introduce the rural atmosphere of the interior via roof Beams, lighting, kitchen design, bedroom meditative space etc. The project is done by KIOSK studio from conceptual envisioning, to drafting, visualization and execution plans completely.

Existing Condition

The project originates from a hybrid rural structure, where a traditional brick house is paired with a former farm outbuilding. Together, they define a fragmented yet coherent ensemble within an open landscape.

The interior reflects a purely functional layout, characterized by simple finishes, generous openings, and exposed roof structures. Variations in ceiling height and spatial proportions create a sequence of utilitarian rooms with distinct atmospheric potential.

The material palette—wood, masonry, and simple finishes—speaks to the building’s agricultural past, offering both constraints and opportunities. These existing qualities provided a strong foundation for transformation, where the challenge lay in preserving the authenticity of the rural character while adapting the spaces to meet contemporary standards of comfort and domesticity.
